Bicycles!

My bike and I at the Atlantic Ocean in Halifax. I took it on the train with me there and back from Saskatoon.

I recently got this same bike tuned up and started riding it, since the weather has gotten nice again. The first ride had me feeling ultra giddy and I decided to finally do a bicycle themed show. This episode included some bicycle stories told by various friends.

Playlist for March 18th, 2010

I cannot recommend the All Citizen's Centre as a venue enough. I've been there a few times now, each well worth the drive. An intimate and cozy little place run by one of the nicest guys in Canada.

We were there to see the Burning Hell and Wax Mannequin, and the show was excellent. CBC Radio 3's Vish Khanna was on tour with them providing percussion. Check out All Citizen's upcoming shows calendar and make it out to one of them!

  1. Port O'Brien - I Woke Up Today (All We Could Do Was Sing)
  2. Woodpidgeon* - My Denial In Argyle (Die Stadt Muzikanten)
  3. Slow Down Molasses* - I'm An Old Believer (I'm An Old Believer)
  4. The Wrens - Faster Gun (The Meadowland)
  5. The Hold Steady - Massive Night (Boys and Girls in America)
  6. Eamon Mcgrath* - Desperation, Alberta (13 Songs of Whiskey and Light)
  7. Surfer Blood - Swim (Astro Coast)
  8. Born Ruffians* - Sole Brother (Say It)
  9. Hexes and Ohs* - This and Other Distances (Goodbye Friend, Welcome Lover)
  10. Sigur Ros - Hjomalind (Hvarf/Heim)
  11. Wax Mannequin* - Volcano God (And Black Blood)
  12. Shuyler Jansen* - Don't Ask Why (Today's Remains)
This week's homework: get out to Bruno for a concert.

A trip to Toronto.

I was in Toronto last week! This show is sort of an overview of that, surrounded by a bunch of songs that are neat.

I had a delicious and quite filling "How To Fight Loneliness" sandwich at a Wilco themed sandwich shop. Ingredients: turkey, apple slices, bacon.

Vinyl shopping: Burl Ives' Women, Neil Young's Comes a Time, and a Fats Domino 7".

  1. Wilco - How to Fight Loneliness (Summerteeth)
  2. Dan Mangan* - Basket (Nice, Nice, Very Nice)
  3. Local Natives - Stranger Things (Gorilla Manor)
  4. Ghostkeeper* - Tea and Cree Talking (Ghostkeeper)
  5. Bob Dylan - You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You're Gone (Blood on the Tracks)
  6. Tom Waits - All the World was Green (Blood Money)
  7. Neil Young* - Human Highway (Comes a Time)
  8. Burl Ives - The Chivalrous Shark and the Woman (Women)
  9. Fats Domino - Blueberry Hill (7")
  10. The Fjords* - Mine (The Fjords)
  11. Brasstronaut* - Lo Hi Hopes (Mt. Chamaera)
  12. Boats* - Sunshine on the Muffin District ("Cannonballs, Cannonballs")
Toronto actually has a muffin district! Well, of sorts. Three cupcake shops all call a section of Queen East their home.

I also saw Zeus play an instore. My view:

It sounded pretty good, at least. I wonder how many things were stolen...
